TIPS FOR FCAT SUCCESS
Your child's teachers have been diligently working to prepare students with the necessary tools to perform well on the test. FCAT testing at GOCA will occur from April 16th-27th for grades 3rd through 8th. These Tips for FCAT Success will ensure your child has every opportunity to have a successful testing experience throughout the testing week.
Please read the following tips with your child:
· Use FCAT Explorer to practice the skills you have learned.
· Listen and learn from your teachers as they provide FCAT tips and experiences.
· Determine a strategy that you will use with each type of question.
· Warm your brain by reading for at least 30 minutes every night.
· Relax! All of the hard work is done. Now is the time to prove what you know.
- Make sure you get plenty of sleep each night (8 hours).
· Eat a good breakfast filled with whole grains and fruit. Remember oatmeal and bananas! Drink lots of water, too.
· Wake up in time to have a relaxed morning at home before going to school.
· Arrive at school by 8:30 each day.
· Think positively; tell yourself that you can do this.
· It is normal to be nervous when you take a test. Try to relax and think about the readings.
Thank you for helping your child perform his/her best during these important tests.
